The Digital Media Awards took place on the 11th of November with a gala awards ceremony in the Convention Center in Dublin. Now in their 19th year, the Digital Media Awards are the most prestigious digital awards in Ireland. They recognise creativity and innovation across multiple areas of an ever-evolving sector in Ireland and it was fantastic to catch up with all our industry colleagues in person.

Throughout the year, we constantly push ourselves to grow the digital audio landscape, through launching new innovations, finding new audio formats, building remarkable creative campaigns as well as constantly trying to push the boundaries on with what can be done with the medium. So, as you can imagine, we were delighted to hear that all five entries we submitted had been shortlisted as finalists, as there were over 300 entries this year.

The night, similar to last year (minus all the covid talk), brought huge success for the entire audioXi team as we won gold again for “Best Technology Innovation” and we also picked up gold for “Best Use of Mobile”, not only were we delighted with retaining gold for one category but thrilled to pick up an award for an entirely new category. There is some information below on each award we picked up and what the campaigns entailed:

Best Technology Innovation: ‘Shake Your Phone to Help Ukraine’

This was a campaign we were very proud of and we were delighted to win gold for it with our partners in Carat & UNICEF. Utilising new technology, we teamed up with UNICEF to serve listeners an audio-ad where they could shake their phone to be brought directly to the UNICEF donation page. This meant listeners could seamlessly migrate from audio listening to a digital platform, with a simple shake of their phone – while we were proud of the technology to start, we were so happy that it could be utilised to have an impact for such a great cause.

When we finished the campaign and collected all the data, we were blown away to see that almost 1 in 10 people who heard the ad shook their phone to get to the donation page. Driving over 63,000 people to the UNICEF website, showing that digital audio is fantastic at building awareness but also driving action from listeners.

Best Use of Mobile: ‘An Post Tap into Mobile Gaming with In-Game Audio Ads’

Earlier this year we announced that we will be the exclusive reseller for “In Game Audio” specialists AudioMob in the Irish Market. This was a huge milestone for audioXi as we look to expand the digital audio landscape and be audio pioneers in Ireland. So, picking up gold for another digital audio offering was great recognition that we are continuing to showcase digital audio as a market leading advertising format.

For this campaign we teamed up with An Post and MediaWorks (now Zenith Ireland) to run Ireland’s first “In-Game” audio advertising campaign. This is where An Post’s audio advertisements along with a companion display banner, were inserted into users gaming sessions on some of Ireland’s most popular mobile gaming app’s. This is a non-intrusive format in comparison to traditional mobile gaming formats and we seen CTR’s of over 290% of the industry average and a super high listen through rate.

Well done to all the other winners on the night, some amazing work showcased. A huge thank you to all our clients and agency partners for working on these campaigns with us and enabling us to bring them to life for your brands! With digital audio being the fastest growing advertising medium, 2023 looks even brighter.
